This place was awesome! The staff did a great job getting us a table even though they were slammed. They were attentive, friendly and very respectful. The food was delicious, well portioned and well worth the price It came out super fast and decently hot. The restaurant itself was clean and had quite a bit of knick knacks and old timey photos on the walls. It was pretty packed but definitely had a decent amount of seating inside and out. Overall I would highly recommend this place!
Overview
Walking into Barrelhouse Pub & Pizza at 122 College Ave, Cheney, WA 99004, United States feels like stepping into a place that already knows you. The vibe is relaxed, the kind of neighborhood spot where conversations overlap, plates slide across wooden tables, and nobodyβs rushing you out the door. I first stopped in after a long afternoon near Eastern Washington University, and within minutes it was clear why locals keep this place in their regular rotation.
The menu is built for comfort without being boring. Youβll see familiar pub classics alongside pizzas that are clearly taken seriously. The dough has that chewy-inside, crisp-outside balance that usually comes from letting it ferment properly, a method widely recommended by professional bakers because it improves both texture and flavor. I asked one of the servers about it, and they explained the kitchen preps dough daily rather than cutting corners with frozen bases. That extra effort shows up in every slice. Toppings are generous without drowning the crust, and the sauce has a mild tang that works equally well with pepperoni, veggies, or heavier meat combinations.
Beyond pizza, the menu leans into hearty pub food. Burgers arrive juicy and well-seasoned, wings are cooked through without losing their crunch, and the fries hold up even after sitting for a few minutes, which is harder to pull off than most people think. According to food science research published by the Institute of Food Technologists, proper oil temperature and moisture control are key to fries that stay crisp, and Barrelhouse clearly gets that process right. Iβve come back specifically for late-night food, and consistency has never been an issue.
The drink selection matches the foodβs personality. Youβll find rotating taps that highlight regional craft beer, plus familiar favorites for anyone who just wants a cold pint without overthinking it. One bartender mentioned they regularly update offerings based on customer feedback, which lines up with what you see in reviews online. Many diners mention discovering a new local brew here, which adds to the feeling that this is a community-driven pub rather than a generic sports bar.
Service is another reason this place stands out. On one visit, a large group came in right before a game night rush. Instead of things falling apart, the staff adapted quickly, split checks without complaint, and kept food moving. That kind of operational flexibility is something hospitality experts often point to as a sign of strong internal training. The National Restaurant Association notes that restaurants with consistent service standards tend to earn higher repeat-visit rates, and Barrelhouse seems to benefit from that directly.
What I appreciate most is how the atmosphere supports different moods. It works for a casual dinner, a quick lunch, or a long evening with friends. TVs are there if you want to watch a game, but they donβt dominate the room. Music stays at a level where you can actually talk, which sounds small but matters more than people admit.
Reviews from regulars often mention friendly staff, reliable food quality, and a sense of belonging. That lines up with my own experience. The only limitation worth noting is that peak hours can get busy, especially on weekends or during campus events, so waits happen. Still, most people seem to agree itβs worth it.
Between the thoughtfully prepared pizza, solid pub menu, rotating drinks, and genuinely welcoming service, this spot has earned its reputation. It doesnβt try to be trendy or over-polished. Instead, it focuses on doing the basics very well, which is often the hardest thing to pull off.

Pizza of the month was great plus outside seating for our pup which is a bonus. Thanks Bring Fido for the recommendation.
As someone who has eaten pizza in its city and country of origin (Naples, Italy), I can honestly say the quality of the dough and the delicious marinara sauce and cheese at this restaurant are on par with the quality of the pizzas in Naples. My mind was blown by the quality of the food at this restaurant. Our waiter was presumably a college student, so Iβll extend her some grace for making mistakes such as forgetting someoneβs order at our table or forgetting to bring eating utensils. She was very pleasant and personable, so her mistakes didnβt overshadow our overall experience. The dessert (skillet cookie with ice cream) is literally the best of its kind. You deserve to enjoy the food at this establishment!
Best pizza, hands down! Great food, staff, atmosphere and drinks. It's a 30 minute drive for us, but we'll worth it! Don't miss out on this amazing place!
I have had pizza in Italy and the margherita pizza here was just as delicious if you ask me. Nice place to relax, eat and enjoy a beer. Tried the TenPin Ale, really enjoyed it!
The pizza we got was OK. Nothing great. The bread balls didn't do anything for me at all. The service was excellent and atmosphere seemed really good.
Trivia night is a hit!! The M/C does such a wonderful job, tough questions. A great hour of fun. The crowds were so involved, having fun, fun, fun! Keep it going!!
